1. Definitions
- "Service" — any watch repair, restoration, testing, or maintenance work carried out by Gilt Seconds
- "Owner" or "Client" — any individual or entity that submits a timepiece for service
- "We / Us / Our" — Gilt Seconds, operating from 19 Persiaran Gurney, 10250 George Town, Penang, Malaysia
- "Timepiece" — any watch, clock, or similar device submitted to us for service
- "Agreement" — the service arrangement formed when we accept a timepiece for work
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a timepiece to us for any service, browsing our website, or engaging with us by any means, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
You must be at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement. If you are submitting a timepiece on behalf of another person, you confirm you have authority to do so.
3. Service Description
Gilt Seconds provides specialist watch repair and restoration services, including:
- Pressure and Dive Rating Verification (MYR 650, 2–3 working days)
- Lume Restoration (MYR 1,200, 7–10 working days)
- Complete Restoration Programme (MYR 5,800, 21–30 working days)
Services are available to clients in Malaysia. International submissions may be accommodated at our discretion; please contact us to discuss logistics before sending any timepiece from outside Malaysia.
4. Intake and Service Agreement
- Each timepiece is inspected upon intake and photographed before any work begins
- We will advise you of our findings and the proposed scope of work before proceeding
- For the Complete Restoration Programme, work proceeds in stages, and owner approval is sought before each phase begins
- We reserve the right to decline any service if we assess that the timepiece or its condition falls outside our capabilities
- Any scope changes identified after work commences will be communicated to you prior to additional work
5. Pricing and Payment
- All prices are listed in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of applicable service charges
- A quotation is provided and agreed upon before work begins on any service
- Payment is due upon completion of the service, prior to collection or dispatch of the timepiece
- We accept payment via bank transfer, credit or debit card, and cash at the workshop
- Payment processing by third-party providers is governed by those providers' terms
6. Turnaround Times
Quoted turnaround times are estimates based on normal workshop conditions. They begin from the date the timepiece is received and the service scope is agreed. We will inform you promptly if circumstances require a revision to the estimated timeframe.
Delays attributable to factors outside our control — including sourcing of parts, import timelines, or unforeseen technical complexity — do not constitute a breach of these terms.
7. Care of Timepieces
- All timepieces in our possession are stored securely at our workshop premises
- We take reasonable care to protect against damage, loss, or theft
- While we carry professional indemnity coverage appropriate to our service type, we are not liable for pre-existing conditions undiscovered at intake
- You are responsible for disclosing any known issues, prior repairs, or conditions relevant to the timepiece before submission
8. Collection and Uncollected Timepieces
- You will be notified when your timepiece is ready for collection or dispatch
- If a completed timepiece is not collected or arranged for return within 60 days of notification, we reserve the right to charge a storage fee of MYR 30 per month thereafter
- After 12 months from notification of completion, uncollected timepieces may be handled in accordance with Malaysian unclaimed property procedures
9. Refund and Cancellation Policy
- If you wish to cancel a service after intake but before work commences, you may do so without charge and collect your timepiece
- If work has already begun, we may charge for the portion of work completed up to the point of cancellation
- We do not offer refunds on completed services unless there is a clear material defect in the work performed
- Any concern about completed work must be raised within 14 days of collection or receipt
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law:
- Our liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the amount paid for that specific service
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses including sentimental value
- We do not warrant specific outcomes — watch behaviour after service depends on the condition and age of the timepiece
- We are not responsible for issues arising from use contrary to the manufacturer's specifications after the service is completed
11. Intellectual Property
All content on our website — including text, photography, and design — is the property of Gilt Seconds and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without our written permission.
12. Disclaimers
- Our services are provided in good faith based on the information available to us at intake
- We do not make representations about resale value or collector authenticity of timepieces
- Any information we provide about manufacturer specifications is for reference only
13. Dispute Resolution
If you have a concern about any service, we ask that you contact us first at [email protected] so we can work toward a resolution. We aim to respond within 10 working days.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be subject to the laws of Malaysia and the jurisdiction of the courts of Penang, Malaysia.
14. Force Majeure
We will not be held in breach of these terms for any delay or failure caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural events, supply chain disruptions, or government directives.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The most current version will always be available on our website with a revised effective date. Continued use of our services after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
